The door is locked. Visitors are therefore asked to ring the
library's doorbell during opening hours.
Students and staff at the Dept. of Oriental languages have
access to reading desks and computers on weekdays 8:00 - 20:00.
Your Dept. will issue a key-code.

The Library as a place of study
The Asia Library offers 26 study areas
comprising individual areas and a group room. Eight of the areas
have computers with Internet access. All the computers are also
equipped with word processing programs that are able to handle
different alphabets and characters.
The study areas are primarily intended for students at the
Department of Oriental Languages.
Borrowing
To borrow books from the Asia Library, you need a library card
from the university library. Find out all you need to know about
how to borrow items,
loan periods and borrowing rules.
Books and journals not kept at the Asia Library can be borrowed
from other libraries if you are a student, researcher, lecturer or
staff member at Stockholm University. However, as a student, you
are not eligible for interlibrary loans of material that is
available at a library in the greater Stockholm area.

Purchase suggestions
You are welcome to send your purchase suggestions to asienbiblioteket@sub.su.se.
Indicate the author, title, and publication year, and whether you
want to borrow the book when it arrives.
Department
The Department of Oriental Languages (Arabic, including the
Middle East Studies, Central Asian Studies, Centre for Pacific Asia
Studies (CPAS), Indology, Japanese, Chinese, Korean).
Collections Description
The JAPANOL collection consists of books in
Japanese. Some of the books are only searchable in the NACSIS Japanese national
library catalogue.
Translated Japanese literature can be found in the ASIAN
Collection in the Asia Library or the Main Library.
The KOREAN collection consists exclusively of
books in Korean.
Translated Korean literature can be found in the ASIAN Collection
or the Main Library.
The SINOL collection consists exclusively of
books in Chinese.
Translated Chinese literature can be found in the ASIAN Collection
or the Main Library.
The REF collection contains bibliographies,
reference books and language and subject dictionaries. A small
collection of language dictionaries is available in the reading
room on the ground floor.

For information on Arab and Indian literature and literature in
Western languages, contact Olivier Höhn.
Journals
The journals room is open Monday to Friday, 08.00-20.00, for
staff and students.
In this room you will find the latest issue of each journal, as
well as newspapers in Japanese and Chinese.
To read back issues, contact Nobuko Kuramasu. The
list of journals in the room indicates which journals/newspapers
are stored in the stacks.
