Open Access

The underlying idea of Open Access is that the sharing and communication of publicly financed scientific results ought to be free.

At Stockholm university a group of representatives from the four faculties and the library have produced a preparatory study for an Open Access policy.

In June 2006, based on this study, the Vice Chancellor declared his decision to strongly recommend Stockholm University researchers and teachers to deposit copies of their published articles in the University's publications database. The Vice Chancellor also decided to sign the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities.

Two Roads to Open Access

Publishing in an Open Access journal
You may choose to publish your article in one of more than 3000 scientific Open Access journals available on the Internet. See DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).

Parallel publishing in DiVA

Parallel publishing (also known as post-print publishing or self-archiving) means making your peer-reviewed, already published, research article freely available in full text on the Internet. You do this by publishing a copy of your article in the publications database of your academic place of residence.
